The Effectiveness of Group Dialectical Behavioral Therapy on Self-efficacy with problems Referred to Residential and Semi-residential Addiction Recovery Centers

Background and aim: Problems caused by substance abuse among consumers have led to the inability to achieve high self-efficacy to Access physical, social and psychological problems in society. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of group Dialectical Behavioral Therapy on Self-efficacy with problems in residential and semi-residential addiction recovery centers in the city of Yasuj. Methods: The present quasi-experimental study was conducted using a pre-test, post-test and control group. The population included all patients drug dependent as residential and semiresidential referred to Yasuj addiction recovery centers. Number of 40 patients were selected by convenience sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The instrument used in this study included was questionnaire Self-efficacy with problems Chesney et al. Group group Dialectical Behavioral Therapy intervention model was carried out on the experimental group for 8 sessions for one hour once a week, but there was no intervention on control group. After the intervention both experimental and control groups were assessed. Collected data was analyzed using covariance analysis. Results: The mean pre-test score of Self-efficacy with problems in the respectively experimental group 80/35 ± 17/70 and in control group was 76/70 ± 4/64. Whereas the mean and standard deviation of Self-efficacy with problems and post-test scores in the experimental group 122/25 ± 26/48 and in the was control group 77/00 ± 4/09. The results revealed that the group Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, leading to Self-efficacy with problems in the Increase significantly in the experimental group compared control group significantly (p <0.001). Conclusion: Dialectical behavior therapy can increase efficiency and efficacy in dealing with the problems of clients, drug treatment centers to be used as the main or auxiliary treatment.
